Values Driven Budgeting
There is a simple and all but universally accepted formula for budgeting. It goes something like this: A. How much money do you have coming in each month? B. How much money do you have going out each month? Now, if A is greater than B then you are okay. But, if B is greater than A then we have some work to do. Okay, now if the budget system is a little more advanced it will take one more step: A. What are your money goals? B. Are those money goals being accomplished? If the answer to B is “yesâ€, then you can continue, business-as-usual. If the answer to B is “noâ€, then we need to go through the painful process of pruning back some of your budgetary line-items. We have created a system for generating a spending plan that takes a different approach. Using specific exercises, our goal is to identify: A. Where is your money going? B. Why have you made the spending choices you have made? C. What do you value? What does your family value? What does your community value? We then take those important pieces of information to formulate a spending-plan that emanates from the client’s values. This way it flows from the person’s hopes not their fears. It is sustained by it internal congruence not its external punishment. Contact Us, we’d love to share time with you to explore these questions in more depth for your life.About this entry
