Les Leopold coming to Portland

Do you feel looted with the recent and ongoing bailouts? Are you skeptical of the scapegoating that has blamed the poor (subprime), or one party or another, or regulation or deregulation? Do you wonder why the circle of Wall Street advisors around our president continue to push to resurrect a cancerous financial system? Does you feel like you’ve witnessed a game of fantasy finance? Les Leopold, author of The Looting of America: How Wall Street’s Game of Fantasy Finance Destroyed Our Jobs, Pensions, and Prosperity and What We Can Do About It, is coming to Portland. Leo Leopold, author of The Looting of America, How Wall Street’s Game of Fantasy Finance Destoyed Our Jobs, Pensions, and Prosperity and What We Can Do About it, will speak at the First Unitarian Church on Friday, July 10th beginning at 7 PM at the invitation of the Alliance for Democracy. Les Leopold puts the blame for the economic crisis where it belongs - on Wall Street. Wall Street played a lucrative and dangerous game of fantasy finance.  They played but lost, and destroyed the economy.  Now we need a grassroots movment to demand far-reaching reforms. Les tells us what those reforms are and how to enact them. First Unitarian Church 1011 SW 12th Ave. Admission: $5 - 20, no one turned away.  Doors open at 6:30Pm. Please print the attached flyer and post in your favorite coffee shop or super market bulletin board. More info on the book is available here. Here are a couple of Les Leopold’s recent columns: article 1, article 2.
