How does Money relate to Real Wealth in our community?
Ok, so you’ve likely read more about economics these last few months than in all those college econ classes you took way back when. As if it weren’t enough, we decided to throw our own little spin on things and put together a forum to try to unpack some of the components that aren’t getting much air time (but should) AND give you some practical steps to help make our community better. We’ll be discussing the relationship Money currently has with Debt. We’ll look at the Federal Reserve and hear about policy work that attempts to bring its mandate to help the people before national and international financial institutions. We’ll explore options for the dollars that come your way – depositing in community banks or credit unions or investing in socially responsible or even sustainable investments. Lastly, we’ll hear from representatives working to create alternative means of exchange – you know, the kind where you know your neighbor and life seems better as you do things together. Please join us! (There will be cookies too) Monday January 12th from 7-9pm (with social time to follow) The Buchan Meeting Room, First Unitarian Church 1011 SW 12th Ave. Enter through alleyway on 12th. click here for a map For more info visit the Real Wealth of Portland websiteAbout this entry
