Fannie and Freddie
All over the financial news this week we read of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the swift move of the government over the weekend to all but nationalize these two entities. There are and will be many ramifications from this move, but uncertainty abounds on the medium and long term effects. One thing is for certain though - rates have dropped on average .5%. Trying to forecast rate movements has been anything but easy, especially with strong government actions such as this one, but all bets are on rates moving higher soon, and most likely will continue to oscillate. Feel free to contact us to evaluate what this may mean for your situation. For a good intro to Fannie and Freddie and an overview of what lead up to this weekend’s move by the government, check out our friend and colleague Evan Swanson’s July blog entry on Fannie and Freddie.About this entry
