“Lord Save Us From Your Followers”

After three years of work we recently competed our feature film, “Lord Save Us From Your Followers.”

We just completed a one week premier at the Hollywood theater here in our hometown and the response exceeded our expectations. Several of the showing sold out and thousands came out to watch. At one point the film ranked third nationally in revenue per theater (Variety.com). This calculation provides some level of comparison of how the film might do when it has a widespread theatrical release. The film finished fifth for the entire week, not bad!

The director and executive producer both come from conservative evangelical roots. The film’s genesis (notice the ironic term choice) was a self critique of the American church and how it has helped perpetuate a cultural divide, while also attempting to explore a more redemptive exploration of Jesus’ message of love.

I got involved early on. I believe in the inherent value, if not necessity, of genuine life exchange. How can we live in a community driven by honest and humble dialogue, instead of close-eared monologues? My hope from the film is that people regardless of their spiritual or political perspectives would be able to celebrate in the perspectives of the other and that through genuine exchange we can build more integrated and inter-dependent communities.

“Lord Save Us From Your Followers” will be releases nationally in the Fall. To learn more please visit www.lordsaveusthemovie.com.
